ERA-Net ECO-INNOVERA

The ERA-Net ECO-INNOVERA, the European Research Area Network on Eco-innovation, was launched in October 2010 and is supported by the European Commission through the 7th Framework Programm for Research and Technological Development. A key focus of the project is the support of research and development (R&D) on eco-innovation by (i) coordinating the national programmes and (ii) joint transnational funding of research projects on eco-innovation. In addition, ECO-INNOVERA aims to boost the implementation of eco-innovation in Europe by the establishment of a networking platform for researchers, enterprises, policy and society and the provision of target group specific information material. The consortium is made up of 20 European countries and regions.

The Federal Office for the Environment is partner of the ERA-Net ECO-INNOVERA

News: The 2nd Joint Call of ECO-INNOVERA is now open!

The 2nd Call for transnational proposals for eco-innovation has been launched on the 8th of January 2013. There will be a two-stage submission procedure for joint applications: pre-proposals and full proposals. Joint pre-proposals (in English) must be submitted in an electronic version no later than 8th April 2013 at 12 a.m. Central European Time.

The second call of the ECO-INNOVERA Network aims to boost Green Growth and industrial driven R&D by addressing market-oriented projects in the fields of:

  • Topic 1 - System innovation: Proving the transformational potential of eco-innovation requires a systemic approach and differs from conventional approaches to innovation. As "System Innovation" it may lead to quite different models of production and consumption.
  • Topic 2 - Sustainable processes and products: In this topic we are looking for proposals which will mobilise the value chain (both industry partners and the knowledge base) to deliver projects which are high impact both in terms of the market opportunity they address, and the environmental/societal benefits they will enable.
  • Topic 3 - Recycling; re-use of waste and water: This topic seeks new products, processes and services which will enable significant reductions in the impact of waste and recycling processes and new products which make better use of waste and secondary materials.

Swiss partners from public and private research organizations, non-profit organizations as well as industry are eligible to submit a pre-proposal for all three topics. The maximum duration of projects funded under this call is 36 months and the projects must involve partners from at least 2 funding countries. The funding of the Swiss project partners is provided by the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN. A total budget of 500'000 Euros has been reserved to finance the Swiss partners participating in this call.

All relevant information for preparing and submitting a proposal for the 2nd Call is available on the following platform:
