Noise and vibration indicators

1.3 million people are exposed to traffic noise that is harmful or a nuisance. Road traffic is the most important source of noise. Efforts to abate noise are therefore focussing increasingly on traffic-related sources. The main approach is to implement forward-looking technical solutions directly addressing vehicles, railways and roads. The deployment of these technologies is to be promoted together with a range of partners, and will be made economically attractive by providing incentives.
