Forest monitoring
The Swiss Forest Monitoring includes the observation, at regular intervals, of the condition, the use and the middle- and long-term development of the Swiss forest.
The results obtained give a substantial foundation on which to base decisions concerning forest policies, forest planning and the optimal care and use of the forest. Furthermore, the results enter into various international monitoring programmes.
The Swiss Forest Monitoring is made up of various projects which are carried out in a partnership between the BAFU, the Federal Office for Statistics and the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL.
