The ERA-Net ECO-INNOVERA, the European Research Area Network on Eco-innovation, was launched in October 2010 and is supported by the European Commission through the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. A key focus of the project is the support of research and development (R&D) on eco-innovation by (i) coordinating the national programmes and (ii) joint transnational funding of research projects on eco-innovation. In addition, ECO-INNOVERA aims to boost the implementation of eco-innovation in Europe by the establishment of a networking platform for researchers, enterprises, policy and society and the provision of target group specific information material. The consortium is made up of 20 European countries and regions.
The Federal Office for the Environment is a partner of the ERA-Net ECO-INNOVERA and is in charge of task 2.7 «Learning from experiences on the spatial dimension of eco-innovation».
