The Section
  • is concerned with all stationary sources of air pollution (industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic installations, including combustion equipment);
  • develops foundations for the periodic adaptation of legislation in accordance with technological progress;
  • supports the cantonal authorities in the enforcement of the Ordinance on Air Pollution Control;
  • studies and calculates emissions of various air pollutants from stationary sources in order to review the effectiveness of the air pollution control measures already in place and to provide Swiss data for international surveys of emissions;
  • addresses the complex of problems associated with energy and air pollution control and compiles inventories of greenhouse-gas emissions in Switzerland.
