Experimental releases of alien small invertebrates

Experimental releases of alien small invertebrates additionally require federal authorisation.

Competence

For application as a plant protection product

The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office is responsible for authorising experimental releases of alien insects, mites and nematodes intended for use in agriculture as plant protection products. The Plant Protection Products Ordinance regulates this procedure.

For other applications

The Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) is responsible for issuing licences for releasing alien small invertebrates for experimental purposes. The Release Ordinance (Art. 15-18, 21-22, 36-41 RO) regulates this procedure.
