Review of target achievement

A review of target achievement takes place at the end of each commitment period and is based on the greenhouse gas inventory. The Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement and the CO2 Act regulate how the accountable sink (greenhouse gas balance of vegetation and soils) and emission reductions through projects abroad count towards achieving targets.

2010 target achievement review

Switzerland met its commitment under the Kyoto Protocol for the 2008–2012 period.

2020 target achievement review

Switzerland narrowly missed its national target for 2020, but will meet its international commitment under the Kyoto Protocol for the years 2013–2020 thanks to emission reductions through projects abroad.

2030 target achievement review

Based on the annual greenhouse gas inventory, Switzerland's emissions development can be tracked with regard to the target achievement for the years 2021–2030.
