Neuchâtel, 20.07.2017 - (FSO) – In 2016 the Swiss timber harvest continued its decline. With a total of 4.46 million m3, 2% less timber was harvested than in the previous year, bringing the timber harvest to its lowest level in the past ten years. The economic situation of Swiss forestry holdings remained tense in 2016. These are some of the findings from the Federal Statistical Office’s (FSO) Swiss Forestry Statistics and from the test forestry operations network run by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
