Climate Change Adaptation Network: news and publications

The network increases effectiveness, opens up opportunities, acts as a catalyst for solutions and creates innovation.

Since 2025, the “Climate Change Adaptation Network” focuses on two challenges: "increasing heat stress" and "more frequent summer droughts". The aim is to work with key stakeholders on a regular basis to share experiences, discuss critical matters, compile best practices and draw up concrete recommendations on urgent enforcement issues.

News from the “Climate Change Adaptation Network”

• June 2025

  The 14 members of the “Climate Change Adaptation Network”’s steering group have chosen the first priority topics for the next two years. Over the next 12 to 15 months, specific issues will be examined in working groups, and findings and recommendations will be discussed and coordinated in forums.

  The following work is planned in particular:

  For the topic of rising heat stress:

  • Discussion and consolidation of practical experience in applying impact indicators to local, cantonal and national measures (working group)

  • Launch of a new discussion forum dedicated to the issue of rising heat stress

  For the topic of more frequent summer droughts:

  • Review of current challenges and needs in planning for droughts and dealing with conflicts related to water use (working group)

  • Continued development of the drought platform (Drought - National drought platform) with a particular focus on the perspective of cantons and communes (working group)

  Model templates will also be developed to help cantons, communes and businesses incorporate climate change adaptation into cantonal and communal spatial planning guidelines and regulations (working group).
