EIA and Spatial Planning section

The section ensures that environmental legislation is taken into account in plans and projects carried out under the aegis of the Confederation.

Tasks and topics

The section:

• handles and coordinates the environmental assessment of federal infrastructure projects (with/without EIA requirement), cantonal structure plans, federal sectoral plans and concepts, and agglomeration programmes; 
• is responsible for the application and ongoing development of the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (EIAO).
