Nanotechnology
Nanomaterials are tiny solid particles that can occur naturally, form spontaneously or result from deliberate engineering. Their unique and diverse properties allow them to be used in a wide range of products and technologies. The federal government's central information hub – a joint undertaking of the FOPH, the FOEN, the FOAG, the FSVO, SECO, SERI, Innosuisse and swissmedic– provides the general public, researchers, policymakers and the media with information on the opportunities and risks associated with nanomaterials. It also provides information on advances in nanotechnology, both in Switzerland and abroad. It thus offers an overview of current provisions, regulations and recommendations, as well as developments in scientific knowledge in this field.
