On the 21st November 2025 at the UN climate conference in Belém, a group of countries launched the Article 6 Ambition Alliance (AAA6) to narrow the gap between the current Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the temperature goals under the Paris Agreement. Member countries intend to contribute finance to Article 6 without use of the mitigation outcomes towards NDCs; or – in the role of host countries for Article 6 projects – members confirm their willingness to authorize such activities for other purposes than NDCs (Other International Mitigation Purposes, OIMP). The Alliance will report on progress at least every year towards the UN climate conference.
