Switzerland's options to act, and consequences for the environment, health and the economy. Summary
On 1 June 2007 the new European Union REACH regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) came into force, fundamentally changing policy on chemicals. It is now important to decide as quickly as possible whether and to what extent Swiss legislation on chemicals should be adapted to the REACH, and if so to tackle the necessary legislative projects. This study was mandated by the FOEN (Federal Office for the Environment) to assess the consequences of regulations.
