Perceived changes in the landscape
The landscape is constantly changing. However, it is not clear whether these changes are also perceived by the public and whether they are judged positively or negatively. For this indicator, questions were asked about changes in the landscape in settlement areas and waterbodies.

It can be seen that the general public is well aware of changes in the landscape. Many respondents perceive the construction of new settlements and the densification of existing ones. The spread of settlements into the open countryside and the loss of green spaces were perceived less strongly.
With regard to waterbodies, it is evident that only some of the respondents are aware of the rewilding of rivers or of improvements in the accessibility of waterbodies.
The indicator is not comparable at international level.
Data on perceived changes to the landscape were collected in a survey conducted among 2,032 persons. The respondents were asked to state their degree of agreement with statements on changes to the landscape in settlement areas and waterbodies. The survey is representative of the Swiss population.
