SwissPRTR is Switzerland's publicly accessible pollutant register. It provides information about pollutant release and the transfer of waste and pollutants into wastewater. The register comprises data from facilities subject to a reporting obligation, and on various sources.
Legal basis
Ordinance of 15 December 2006 on the Register relating to Pollutant Release and the Transfer of Waste and of Pollutants in Waste Water (PRTRO, SR 814.017).
New SwissPRTR 5.0 web application from 2024
The newly-developed SwissPRTR 5.0 web application is available for data entry under the new URL www.swissprtr.admin.ch from January 2024. The previous web application was shut down at the end of 2023.
Publication of data
The data up to and including 2023 is available for download in Excel format: SwissPRTR-Daten_2007-2023 (XLSX, 2 MB, 24.03.2025). By the end of 2025, Switzerland's public PRTR data will also be available on www.swissprtr.admin.ch.
The data for 2024 will be available from the end of March 2026 at the latest. The locations of Swiss PRTR facilities can still be viewed on the map at Locations of SwissPRTR-facilities – map.geo.admin.ch.
SwissPRTR Service Desk
The SwissPRTR Service Desk provides support on matters relating to the SwissPRTR 5.0 web application at www.swissprtr.admin.ch. It is also the first port of call for general questions on SwissPRTR.
The SwissPRTR Service Desk is operated by the company Meteotest AG on behalf of the FOEN.
