Good cooperation between the federal government, cantons, communes, private sector and other stakeholders is essential if CCS and NETs are to be expanded rapidly. The FOEN has set up a national working group for this purpose.
At the end of 2022, the FOEN set up a national working group on capturing, removing and storing carbon (AG CCS/NET) to help Switzerland to achieve its climate policy goals in this field. The working group bases its activities on Switzerland’s long-term climate strategy and the Federal Council's CCS/NETs report of May 2022. The public and private sectors, universities, civil society and relevant platforms are represented. The main purpose of the working group is to exchange information, identify obstacles to the expansion of CCS/NETs and develop solutions.
