Waste policy and measures

The Swiss waste management economy is a well-functioning system with public and private stakeholders. This system is one component of a sustainable and comprehensive resources policy. Raw materials are scarce and expensive, and for this reason any material cycles that are still open must be closed. This is the goal that has been set within the context of resource conservation and the circular economy.

Federal government measures for resource conservation

To maintain the natural foundations of life in Switzerland and throughout the world for current and future generations, natural resources must be used far more efficiently and in a way that ensures their conservation. The aim is to conserve resources and simultaneously strengthen the Swiss economy.
